Democratizing data where key R&D non technical community were able to query without IT Support
The Challenge
The R&D teams, especially the non-technical community, struggled with an outdated visual query tool (VQT) that lacked the flexibility required to create ad-hoc queries for scientific data, such as assays, molecular structures, and sequencing - limiting R&D innovation and insights. Users had to manually write SQL queries or rely on limited, pre-built reports in Tableau and Spotfire, creating inefficiencies.
Our Solution
Agilisium’s Life Sciences SMEs closely collaborated with the client’s R&D community to understand their needs and develop a custom approach. Agilisium developed the Virtual Query Builder (VQB), a sophisticated solution built on AWS's on-demand cloud platform that empowers non-technical R&D staff to query the Enterprise Data Fabric with ease, streamlining workflows and enhancing research efficiency.
Democratized Data Access
Developed a non-SQL method for querying data within the EDF, eliminating the need for SQL knowledge.
Advanced Graph Database Integration
Utilized a graph database backend to access and analyze complex molecular structures, substructures, and lineages.
Ontology driven Data Navigation
Leveraged the Enterprise Data Fabric’s ontology and semantic layer to streamline and simplify data access for R&D teams.
Customizable Research Reports
Enabled users to build, customize, and generate purification reports tailored to specific research needs directly within the EDF platform.
The Outcomes
The implementation of Agilisium’s Virtual Query Builder (VQB) delivered transformative results for the clients R&D teams, significantly improving data accessibility, user efficiency, and overall cost savings.
